General Information : Records Policies/Disciplinary Clearances
Records in the Office of Student Judicial Affairs are maintained according to the federal law The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. For specific details, please see the following:
http://www.ureg.ohio-state.edu/ourweb/more/Content/ferpa_pg1.html
To obtain a form that the student can sign to allow Student Judicial Affairs to release information to parents or others, please go to: http://sja.osu.edu/forms.asp
The length of time disciplinary records are maintained depends on the type of record and the outcome of the case. For example, if a student is suspended or dismissed from the university, the records are kept permanently. If a student is placed on disciplinary probation or given an admonition, the record is maintained for 10 years. At the end of that time, the record is destroyed.
